A cyber attack, suspectedly done by communist state North Korea, has paralyzed United States and South Korean government agencies, banks and businesses websites. The cyber attack happened as the North Korean leader Kim Jong Il appeared at a ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Kim Il Sung's death. Kim Il Sung is Kim Jong Il's father and was the first leader of North Korea.
US websites have been attacked including those of the Treasury Department, Secret Service, and Federal Trade Commission while South Korean websites appeared to be affected including the presidential Blue House, the Defense Ministry, and the lawmaking National Assembly.
South Korea’s intelligence agency has told parliament members that it believes North Korea may be behind the cyber attack, which hit 25 websites on Tuesday evening, shutting some of them down for up to four hours.
