Marcel Desailly Backs United Overcome AC Milan

Marcel Desailly, former France skipper, interviewed by Soccernet said he is supporting Manchester United to overcome AC Milan when the two football giants clash in the Champions League on Tuesday, Feb 16, 2010.

Desailly, who played for Chelsea in the Premier League and for the Rossoneri in Serie A, believes that Manchester United's desire to avenge last season's final loss to Barcelona, coupled with a greater experience of playing at the top level over the past few years, will spur them on to victory.

"Manchester United's ambition is to win both [the Premier League and Champions League] and they are the only team I look at and think can potentially win the two," Desailly told Soccernet. "They suffered from last season's Champions League Final and want revenge."

David Beckham Could Play On for 3-4 Years

Ryan Giggs, Manchester United winger, gave praise over the longevity of former team-mate David Beckham, and expects the AC Milan loanee could play on another three or four years.

Both Giggs and Beckham were part of the famous "class of '92" at Old Trafford, which put the foundations for almost two decades of dominance for Sir Alex Ferguson's club.

Nokia Corporation, the world's mobile phones leader, declared war on PC manufacturers as it launches its first notebook computers on Monday. Nokia notebook computers is powered by an Intel chip and running on Windows Mobile. Nokia Booklet 3G, as it's called, marks a major move for the Finnish company, which had until now stayed away from the growing and intensely competitive market for mini notebooks, known as netbooks.

Nokia Booklet 3G is equipped with a 10-inch screen, weighs 1.25 kilos (2.75 pounds) and delivers up to 12 hours of battery life. It connects to the Internet through Wi-fi or a third-generation cellular network and boasts a GPS.

The use of Intel Atom processor and Windows Mobile came as a surprise to analysts who had believed Nokia would likely opt for Linux or Maemo for its first netbook. Additional details, including pricing, availability and distribution strategy, will be announced at next week's Nokia World conference in Stuttgart, Germany.

Airbus A310-300 Crash at Indian Ocean

Yemenia Air Flight 626 was en route from the Yemeni capital of San'a to the island nation of Comoros when it crashed over the Indian Ocean. The flight with 142 passengers and 11 crew originated in Paris on an Airbus A330 and stopped in Marseille before continuing the flight to Yemen, where the passengers and crew transferred to an Airbus A310-300.

The second Airbus plane went down as it approached the Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport in Moroni in heavy winds 12 miles from the coast of the island, the Yemeni authorities reported.

The Tuesday accident is the second major crash involving an Airbus jet flying to or from France this month. On June 1, an Air France flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris crashed in the Atlantic, killing all 228 people aboard. The French air accident investigator was expected to publish its preliminary report on that accident Thursday.

Keishla Villafane Rivera Dismissed for Intolerable Conduct

Puerto Rican pageant, Luis Santiago Productions has fired Miss Puerto Rico Keishla Villafane Rivera for doing intolerable conduct on Friday. Rivera is believed to threat (including making death threat) and assault the pageant staff. The company now prepares to sue Keishla Villafane Rivera for doing such behavior and for violating her contract by agreeing to use her image in an advertisement without the consent of the pageant.

A pageant spokeswoman said problems between Keishla Villafane Rivera and pageant officials started shortly after the 19 year old queen won the title last August.

Van Halen Sues Nike on Dunk Low Sneakers

ELVH, Eddie Van Halen's company, are suing Nike shoes company over an alleged design similarity between Van Halen's iconic "Frankenstein" guitar and a new line of their Nike Dunk Low sneakers. But in a statement to Footwear News, Nike has now called the lawsuit without merit.

In 2001, Van Halen copyrighted the crisscrossing red, black and white pattern that Eddie created in the late '70s for his hybrid version of Gibson and Fender electric guitars. He's continued to use the design on subsequent guitars. The trim on the side of the Nike Dunks features a red background with black and white crisscrosses.
